Caruso Makes The Moves

Michael Caruso was one step away from the podium after an exciting conclusion to the Coates Hire Ipswich SuperSprint, with Caruso showing great speed to cross the line in 4th.

Caruso started the day’s 200km race in 7th position, a result which backed up yesterday’s strong showing in qualifying. However unlike yesterday, today’s 65 lap event would consist of few dramas. Making positions off the start, Caruso completed his first pit stop on lap 12, and by the time the field had reshuffled after his second stop, the #23 Nissan NISMO driver was eyeing off a podium. While unable to hold onto 3rd position, this result is Caruso’s 8th Top 10 from the last 9 Supercars races, and sees him move up to 7th in the Championship standings.

MICHAEL CARUSO – #23 NISSAN NISMO ALTIMA
“It was a fantastic comeback after yesterday, we knew we had the car to be up the front, so it’s really rewarding to nearly walk away with a podium. After qualifying strongly, we moved up to sixth early in the race and battled our way up to third position. We just didn’t have enough to hold onto the podium, but we’ll keep fighting from here on.”
